Biography

Early Life

Zana Utumuuan is not a regular girl. Her father was a bat demon named Utumuuan. He was later exorcised soon after Zana was born to her human mother. Zana was raised in Mississippi by her mother. As a child, her hair was dyed to hide its natural, odd green color and she wore sunglasses to hide her piercing crimson eyes. She went to a school where she was hated for one reason or another. This could possibly be from Zana developing narcolepsy at an early age.

All she had was her mother and she died when Zana was only thirteen. She wandered off on various misadventures and made her way to Japan. She traveled through Japan for nearly two years. What happened in these two years is still a mystery, but it is known that she met her current maid, Toranoko, in these travels. In a boat headed for another part of Japan, Zana fell asleep due to her narcolepsy and somehow woke up on the shore of Yurba.

Yuriba

Once there, she met her first friends, a catgirl named Ryo (who later became her sister), PikaChan (who later left the island), and a kitsune woman named Kitsune Inari. Kitsune invited both Zana and Ryo to move in with her until they could find a place for themselves. Ryo eventually got married and moved off, and later divorced when her wife moved off the island.

When she had first come to Yuriba, she was still a little shy, never really being around people or having true friends until she met the three.

Zana had become a bit of a drunk with a taste for sake. Even so, she wanted to try something new and took a sip of blood wine. Doing so triggered a chain reaction within her. She was taken to hell for a total of five years. In this time, she studied, as there was not much else to do. Many things happened to her, changing her personality. Just what else happened in this time, she chooses not to tell.

Upon returning from her trip, she awoke to realize she had only spent a total of five minutes in this realm. She thought it might have been a narcoleptic dream until she realized she had grown wings. Many months later, she was taken two more times. Once for her tail, and most recently for her horns. These equaled another five years in hell, spending a total of ten years in hell thus far, but only ten minutes away in this realm, as if she had hardly gone anywhere.

Zana's first crush and first girlfriend was a girl named Mia. It turns out that Mia had to dump her for another girl whom she was already engaged to. The two hardly speak anymore, but Zana no longer harbors any ill will against her. Mia is now happily married.

Zana later fell deeply in love with a girl named Millenia. She had a hard relationship with Millenia, stemming with problems of jealousy. She truly loved Millenia more than anyone she had ever loved, the girl getting closer to her than anyone ever had. She still to this day, considers Millenia her true soulmate and wishes to see her again. She had to leave the island, leaving Zana a pearl to remember her by, which Zana keeps securely in her hat. Even after all the months that passed by, she still remains firmly in love with Millenia.

In time, Kitsune helped her through this pain and she fell in love with a girl named Fayle. They were married discretely. She helped her through her deep depression that she had sunk into. Reluctantly, Zana moved in with Fayle, although she wanted to stay with Kitsune. Kitsune on the other hand was happy to finally have some privacy with her girlfriend Lizz whom she eventually married after Zana moved out. Zana also adopted her close friend Tal'set as her daughter and Fayle had adopted a young girl named Taiki.

Zana later had to relive her loss of Millenia once more as Fayle desperately needed to leave the island. They divorced and now Zana had to repeat what happened before. Even so, in the case of Fayle's leaving, a woman named Cobalt had also fallen in love with Fayle.

Both Zana and Cobalt had decided to start a relationship together. But even so, Zana's mental state had been severely damaged due to losing so many people that she could no longer control herself. She eventually allowed Cobalt to date Cecily, knowing that she would treat her better than she had. The two had recently married as well. So in time, she had willingly lost Cobalt.

Zana has a thing for food, loving the restaurants of the island. She helps Kitsune as co-manager of The Tail Club. Zana loves to cook and because of this frequents all the restaurants with much interest. Recently, she's been spending a lot of time at Hou Long Xing, pursuing the chef Jam.

Jam was rather obsessed with a Frenchman (turned woman) named Ky, however, he didn't return her affections. Crushed, Zana comforted her, and Jam later found out that Zana was the one who had told Ky to tell her his true feelings. Zana said that she didn't want Jam to continue something useless and be lonely all her life. Hearing this, Jam quickly fell in love with Zana and the two started a relationship.

Right as Zana had gotten settled down with Jam, Fayle had returned to the island. Zana allowed her to move back into their house. Things were rather awkward at first. Eventually Zana slowly started falling back in love with her. This conflict escelated until she broke up with Jam. However, she still never won Fayle's affection back. Zana became a broken woman and fell into a deep depression with Tal'set being all she considered she had left. However, Tal'set then left her and broke ties. Zana has gone mostly into seclusion, drown in her own sorrow with noone to help her out. She had become quite a dark character for a while. However, after a few months in seclusion, she decided to just stop caring, most of her friends either gone or having stopped talking to her. And thus, she is more or less as she once was, however, at times, she may come out of her seclusion and hang around for a while. Indeed, she is once more her rude self, yet tends to still hold her allegiances to her friends when she can actually get a chance to see them. As of May 13, 2007, she has officially been in Yuriba for exactly two years to a few people's dismay. Even so, she can finally call herself..well..something. Either way, it's a good step in her self-esteem.

It's been a fun two years, hasn't it? Well, Zana finally packed her bags and decided to seek out better things. Wish her luck.

Physical Description

General

She is a young half-demon girl that appears to be in her late teens, 17 perhaps. She seems to have hit a growth spurt, standing at a full 6'. Her body is lean with muscle. She doesn't look too muscled, but she isn't skinny either. Her chest is an average C cup, and her tummy is a little bit fuller than average due to a diet consisting of mostly candy. At times her hands may get bigger and form claws. Her fangs also show every now and then when she smiles. She has green hair, red eyes, horns, demonic wings, and a demonic tail.

• Eyes

Her eyes are a blood red. They look like she could start a fire with them alone. They seem to really creep you out. They look hard and determined with quite a bit of emotion. She expresses herself with her eyes very easily. They glare with anger and pain, soft and sympathetic at other times. But most of the time they're happy and flirtatious until you piss her off, which is suggested against.

• Hair

Her dark green hair goes down to her butt. It's green like the forest, odd like the demon she is. Her bangs are often in her face. She has a few split ends it seems. Her hair often runs over her shoulders and she struggles to keep it behind her ears, though she refuses to wear a ponytail. She somehow accomplished to make it slightly wavy.

• Horns

Poking out from the sides of her forehead are a pair of evilly frightening demonic horns. They are a dark black color and curved upwards. They are six inches each and frame her face rather well. She seems to have little use for them other than intimidation and could be used in battle. But at the moment they are very much new and very much sensitive. When rubbed they send her into a state of paralysis.

• Wings

She has giant wings, a span of about 5'. They look rubbery and fuzzy like that of a bat. From behind they are a solid black frame and a solid black interior. From the front, the frame is still the solid black, but the interior is dark green, like that of her hair. The green being the base, but with a few large red stripes in that of a zigzag pattern. This of course is when they are erect. When down, they drape over Zana like a short, solid black cape. They stop at her thighs, just where a skirt would stop.

• Tail

Right above it and below her long hair is a tail, black as night that you would suspect to see on the typical demon. It's very long and is usually either flicking idly or wrapped around her waist. The tip of her tail is very unique. It seems to change every time you look at her. At times, the tip can be completely smooth. Other times, it can look like a spear with sharp edges. In all, her tail is creepy and might just scare you.

Style

Zana's style is rather odd and all her own. She's never seen without her signature pimp hat which harbors a pearl on it and a feather. She also wears a necklace made of seashells from Kitsune and a necklace and bracelet to remember her bond with Ryo. Her outfits are all black in color. She likes to wear shirts with humorous sayings along with either a skirt or long black khakis. She also wears long leather boots. Underneath all of her clothes, she wears a black bikini which she can be seen walking around in freely. During the colder months, she wear a black hoody. Other times, she'll wear a formal kimono. She's also 'technically' a student of Yuriba's school, having a solid black version of the school uniform. As co-manager of the Tail Club she also wears a waitress outfit.

Psyche

Her personality is very complex. This is mostly due to her past and lack of proper upbringing, leading her to just act however she feels. With no set way of thinking, her personality is very unstable. It has the ability to change according to her environment. Even so, it is like an onion, diving deeper into the layers means finding new personas inside. The closer a person gets to Zana, the more personalities they'll come upon. With this in mind, it's best to go in layers from outside to inside:

Layers

• Layer 1:

When first meeting Zana, she will seem like a flirt who wishes for nothing more than to get you into bed. She'll try every trick she can think of to seduce. She will tease and pick on a person, regardless of who they are, simply because it's fun. She plays with people as if they're toys, because they have no attachment to her. Zana just doesn't have any shame, especially when she doesn't have loyalty to that person. She'll do whatever she likes, totally carefree. Another point in Zana's personality is her narcolepsy, which may bring her to sleepwalk and do things she didn't even know she did. At times, she may confuse dreams with reality at that.

• Layer 2:

Once she has this person at a point of attachment, her personality will start to change. She will slowly gain loyalty, defending that other person from physical or emotional attacks. To quote her: "I'm not going to let anybody mess with you but me, cus I'm just playin." At this point, she teases out of affection, not knowing any other way to convey her feelings like a child with a crush. She gets worse with her teasing at this point, but will more than likely let you know she doesn't do it for spite.

• Layer 3:

At this point, she gets less pimp-like, showing concern for the person and often getting over protective. Her thoughts on love are to quote: "I don't care who you're with. Just stay with me." She only gets jealous at the point of getting the boot for someone else. She has deep-rooted abandonment issues and thus clings a little too close for those she actually cares about. This layer may be the cause of the first. Upon entering this layer, Zana has found a true love for that person which often leads her to despair and heartbreak, prompting her towards depression.

7 Deadly Sins Theory

As a half demon, Zana is forced to have at least half these sins. This shows through in her actions and personality. It affects her psyche and influences quite a bit of her persona.

First are the sins she does have:

• Lust - Zana is very lustful. She loves sex and can't stand to not have it. Even in a monogamous relationship, which is highly unlikely, she still wants sex. However, she thinks very little of it. She's not sensitive to those molested and fails to see sex as a bad thing. However, she does notice violence as a bad thing. In her mindset, violence is bad and the opposite of violence is love. She tries to do good by having sex, but her ideas just get backfired. However, some positive aspects do come from her lust. She can raise a girl's self confidence and bring them out of their shell.

• Gluttony - Zana likes food. Lots and lots of food and girls. And drinking. Did I mention drinking? She indulges in what she likes in extreme excess. A positive aspect is that she has learned to cook for people.

• Sloth - Zana isn't too terribly lazy, as she'll do things when asked...eventually. And at times is even sincere enough to do things for her friends without asking at times. But for the most part, she will be lazy. She normally doesn't do anything for anyone, not even herself until asked. She just sits and drinks most of the time.

Next are the sins that she doesn't have, but still may have adverse affects when effected by the other sins.

• Wrath - She is unaffected by wrath. She doesn't get mad. Ever. In fact, her lack of wrath and excess of sloth make her unreliable during some crisis. She'll just let it go, and not seek revenge. She sees violence and the like as bad, and love as good.

• Greed - Some say gluttony would make her greedy, but this is incorrect. Greed is keeping things to herself, which she doesn't do. In fact, she wants to share everything and sometimes doesn't care if she looses things. She wants to give away sex, love, money, and happiness. However, her charitable ways can be bad, giving 'help' to people and sometimes making a situation worse.

• Pride - Zana has no pride. She has a very low self confidence and low self worth. In fact, one could say she hates herself. She can be humble when talking about herself and very complimentary to others. She sees most other people as being higher than herself, even if they are bad people. She will stick up for everyone, even people she doesn't like, because she sees them as better than herself.

And last:

• Envy - Her envy is incomplete. She can get jealous of other people at times, however her lack of greed and sloth will stop her from acting on this. She mostly will only be jealous when left. Otherwise, she doesn't seem to mind, or doesn't act.

Mental Breakdown

Zana has gone through a lot in her time, before and after Yuriba. Because of her last relationship crisis and being alone in seclusion, her personality has become a bit darker. She no longer drinks. She no longer has sex. She hardly ever goes outside. She's become a hermit, afraid of her own shadow. She's lost her spine and has basically lost her passion. This is the very reason Tal'set had broken ties with her. However, she found words of encouragement in that. She's now trying to be both a better person, and gain her spine back, but at a very slow pace. At the moment, she's at the lowest she's ever been and it'll take a while for her be "fixed".

Relationships

Zana considers herself a pimp, thus a social preditor, always looking for 'fresh meat', which in reality, she's looking for friendship. She has a long list of people that she cares for in various ways, often filtered by the three layers of her persona.

• Kitsune Inari - Her very first friend on the island, whom she asks advise from and sees as a mother figure. No actual family ties have been formally made though. However, she is Ryo's sister. She hasn't spoken to her in a long time.
• Ryo - Her sister and her second friend.
• Fayle - Her ex-wife, whom she admits to still being in love with.
• Taiki - Her daughter.
• Tal'set - Her former daughter who seems to have broken ties with her.
• Ambrosia - Her sister-in-law.
• I-No - Her oddest relationship up to date. She worships her as a goddess and is a priestess in her cult. As a priestess, it's as if she's her mother of sorts.

Romance

These are people whom Zana has actually claimed as a girlfriend or more.

• Mia Arisu - Her very first girlfriend on the island. She later married Emi Arisu.
• Tama - She was a nymph who she had broken up with for Millenia. She has left the island.
• Millenia - She considers her, her first love and only true love. She admits that her other relationships pale in comparison to the love she felt for her. She left the island.
• Fayle - Her first wife. She left the island, but recently came back. The two are still very close friends. Zana isn't exactly sure of her feelings for her.
• Sierra - She really liked her and claimed her as a girlfriend. However, she hasn't seen her in quite a while.
• Nodoka - Nodoka seems to age-shift. When 6, she's only considered her big sister. When 16, she still claims her as a girlfriend.
• Cobalt - She was Fayle's girlfriend as well. She later married Cecily. Zana admits to still being in love with her.
• Jam - Her last girlfriend whom she broke up with in her last mental breakdown.
