Veeru Tulienne is a long-time resident of Yuriba.
Appearance
Veeru is 16 years old, and is fairly short for her age. She has silver hair and brown eyes, and has a small, skinny body type which she's very self-conscious about. Many people have commented that she still looks like a kid, which causes her to get angry and insist that she doesn't, often in ways that make her seem even more childish. She often dresses in form-fitting clothes, usually with a blue-and-white color scheme, and always wears a black choker with a little silver tag. There's an inscription on the back of the tag, but Veeru refuses to let anyone read it. She also has an intense obsession with chocolate, so it's not unusual to see a smudge or two on her mouth or hands.
Background
Veeru was born in the United States. Her home city, Freehaven, is a sprawling metropolis that ranges from huge office buildings and palatial estates to rough neighborhoods and slums. She was one of the lucky ones, born to a wealthy businessman and raised in the lap of luxury. Though most of the other girls in her age and social class grew up spoiled and ignorant, Veeru was born with a very high intelligence, nearing the genius level. She excelled in mathematics, literature, and science, but it was her mother that inspired her greatest talent. Her mother was a famous musician, reknowned for her breathtaking performances, particularly on the piano. Veeru learned much from her, and by the age of eight, began composing her own music.
At the age of twelve, however, Veeru's life took an unexpected turn. Knowing that she would be worth a fortune, a band of criminals attempted to kidnap her as she was on her way home from school. As she was no match for them, the kidnapping may very well have succeeded, if not for a sudden interruption. A mysterious, beautiful woman appeared as if from nowhere. She struck with blinding speed, defeating each and every one of the kidnappers. Veeru could only watch, dazzled by the display. In that moment, she felt the stirrings of her very first love. But before she could even thank her rescuer, the woman disappeared.
Veeru couldn't get the woman's face out of her head. For days, she could barely do anything but lie in bed, thinking of her savior. No one in the city seemed to know her, and without even a name, hopes of finding her were slim. Ultimately, she came to an impulsive decision: She had to find her. Packing up a few belongings, she left home to search for the woman.
Yuriba
After several months of traveling from place to place with no success, Veeru arrived in Yuriba. She couldn't believe her eyes; a vast paradise, filled with women whose beauty matched that of her rescuer. Immediately, she befriended several of the residents there, and it wasn't long before she discovered the very free-spirited sort of love that existed around the place. Her rescuer forgotten for the time being, Veeru decided to stay in Yuriba. For a long time, Veeru was very naive, and became intimately involved with many different women.
Over the past few years, Veeru has had a very small but devoted circle of friends, including Neiko, Talia, Shana, and Xala, the first three being good friends and the fourth being more of a mother figure. Romantically, she was formerly involved with Aleks, but after Veeru had to return home for several months, the relationship fell apart. Afterwards, she met and became madly smitten with a woman named Haley. Despite gradually falling in love with the older woman, several factors made a relationship difficult. Though Veeru still holds a bit of a torch for her, she has decided to move on for now. From time to time, she has been involved with Meila, though the woman comes and goes from the village rather randomly, so their encounters are limited to periodic bursts of passion. Lately, Meila seems to have been coming around more often, though, which Veeru has been very happy about.
