OOC:Lily Blood
OOC: Does It Actually Exist? |
Sadly, no. Lily Blood, Queen of Yuri Battles and QoY2 exist solely in the minds of the players. It might be possible to actually *create* the game, as free, 2D fighting game engines like MUGEN now exist, and are sufficiently mature. The various people involved *have* been bandying around the idea, but without anyone with decent knowledge of spritework, it seems doomed to obscurity. |
Lily Blood is an arcade fighting game originating in 2003. It is a 2D, sprite-based fighter, following in the tradition of games such as Street Fighter, King of Fighters, and Guilty Gear. It, as well as the Queen of Yuri games are homages to doujin games created by French-Bread, namely, Melty Blood and Queen of Hearts.
While the exact hardware specifications for the arcade cabinet is unknown, from a physical standpoint the cabinet's controls are based around Capcom-based fighters, featuring a joystick, six proper input buttons, and a start/taunt button.
Gameplay, however, revolves around SNK-style mechanics.
There are at least two different versions of Lily Blood, the original game, consisting of a small roster of players, and an EX version that came out a number of years afterwards, adding more fighters, as well as addressing balancing, and timing issues, and adding an option for match speed.
The core fighter started out with a basic roster, and unlocked additional versions and costumes as the game was beaten in single-player mode with each character.
Characters from the original game:
- Genesis Magite, The Elusive Pillar of Science
- Eimi Kozuka, Telekinetic Sailor Senshi
- Amy Kou'ai, Nascent Bird of Fire
- Shay Black, Punk Rock Angel
- Aurane Kincade, The Pandemonium Dancer
- Sparta Kerleon, Chaotic Lepidopteroid
Unlockable characters from the original game:
- Agent Kerleon, Woman in Black
- Awakened Amy, Red Bird of the Stars
OOC: Only six characters? |
Yep. The original six and two unlockable characters were all that were originally written up. Ideas for additional characters have been tossed around, but nothing solid, up until August of 2006, when Genesis put out an open call for the original players to update their characters, and for new people to add their own characters. |
Characters added in the EX version:
- Ruriko, The Littlest Magician
- Rae-Anne Anderson, The Great Artiste
- Moriko, Spirit of the Woodland
- Maki Sasaki, The Obsessive Tomboy
