Dr. Danielle Rachel Taylor ( born November 4, 1986) is a current resident of Yuriba and a teacher at Rinkei Gakuen.

Appearance

Danni is 5 feet 5 inches tall with pale green eyes and is 27, but has always looked younger. Her hair is wavy, auburn, and goes down to her shoulders. She wears it loose, but often has some of it covered by a hat of some kind. Her skin is a bit tan from spending a lot of time outdoors in the California sun, but it is not overly so. She has her ears pierced and loves wears a pair of dangle earrings with small brown feathers on the end.

Her frame is thin and skinny; her body is long and lanky. Her chest is a bit flat (somewhere between a AA cup and an A), and she does not have very wide hips. Her upper body has often been described as boyish, and honestly Danni does not mind.

Her weight often comes into question, and she does tend to have issues with being underweight.

Background and Education

Danni was born to a conservative single living in Durango, Colorado. She did not really enjoy her home life, as she saw her mother to be closed minded. She would later come to slowly discover that her mother was incredibly abusive, and much of said abuse had been repressed. At age 17, during the last semester of high school, she left home and lived on the streets or stayed at the occasional friend's house until the next fall when she moved to New York to attend Columbia University. There, she majored in classical literature with a minor in music theory. With the exception of a very close college roommate named Elizabeth Stanton, who is better known as Liz, she did not make very many friends.

After graduating, Liz and Danni moved to Paris, France for a year. There, Danni met several new people, including a professor teaching Philosophy at University of California at Berkeley, who incurred her to return to the states and peruse a doctoral degree.

The next fall, she moved to San Francisco and started to work toward her PhD in philosophy and logic at UC Berkeley Along with Liz, who worked toward her PhD in Bio Egineering. During this time she lived in an abandoned warehouse with a few friends she met in France. It was also her decision at this point to no longer live with Liz, after 5 years. She worked as a librarian at the UC library while she studied.

After receiving her PhD in May of 2013, she continued to live in San Francisco with no real plans for her future, until August, where something happened, something Danni will always wonder was a mistake. In a quick decision, she abandoned her life, including her few few goals, most of her belongings, and most importantly her best friend, Liz. She bought a small sail boat with the idea to live out on the sea. After seeing the lighthouse on Yuriba, she decided to land on the island. After spending a day there, she decided that it would be a pleasant place to spend the rest of her life.

It was also at this point where she decided to make a change in her life, to this point she had lived her life recklessly, with little regard, doing what she wanted, and almost killing herself in the process. At this point she found, she needed to settle down, become more responsible, see her life as a whole. Yet more importantly she decided to pursue her calling, one that she constantly denied.

On Yuriba

Danni spent the first few weeks of life on Yuriba living in different inns. Until finally moving more permanently into the Underhill Apartments.

On her second day on the island she met Fujiko at the Islands's library, the librarian suggested she see about teaching at at Rinkei Gakuen, feeling that Danni's background would make for a great teacher. Fujiko would later introduce Danni to Ada, the vice principle at the school.

After speaking with Ada, Danni was offered a position teaching at Rinkei Gakuen. Danni gladly accepted the position. Her ideas were to originally teach philosophy, ethics, and logic, those which she specialized in. Yet after spending time with the students, her passion for them and helping them grew. She felt a since of belonging, a calling to teach. With this she has began to plan to teach younger students, and teach in a more broad range of subjects. She hopes to begin teaching Music Theory, and elementary mathematics in the Spring semester of 2014.

Toward the end of October 2013, what Danni will forever think of as a miracle happened. During a walk Danni found a familiar face, her dearest friend from before the island. Liz. Overjoyed to be reunited the two currently live together in Danni's apartment.

Personality

Danni is a hard person to read. At first appearance one would see a thin veil of politeness, covering up a very cold, cynical, and arrogant person. Danni appears to be very egotistical, and often talks in a sarcastic tone. Yet under this coldness lies something much more pleasant, Danni has a very kind heart, being truly nurturing and caring, almost motherly, for those around her. She just often tries to hide this aspect of herself.

After spending several weeks on the island, a lot of her egotistic and cynical traits have began to go away, leaving a very kind and nurturing woman.
