Personality
Vita is a sweet girl with an often serious face. She is the most loyal of the Wolkenritter, constantly worrying internally about Hayate's wellbeing. She even used to sleep beside Hayate each night in order to make sure she was safe. Vita's seriousness comes from years of harsh treatment and constant, physical battles that drain mentally as well as physically. As of late, however, Vita appears to be lightening up under the influence of Hayate and her other friends - Signum, Shamal, Zaffira, Nanoha, Fate, and Arf. She has had a decided fetish for plush bunnies after Hayate gave her one as a surprise gift many years ago. Her battling costume, gothic in style, includes a red rounded hat with yellow and black ribbons and two plush bunny heads. Graf Eisen, a talking magical device, is Vita's constant and trusty companion.
Background
Before arriving at the Isle of Yuriba nearly a year ago, Vita had been living with the Wolkenritter and their mistress Hayate Yagami in a small house in Uminari City, Japan. Hayate, a young invalid orphan living alone in a desolate house off some money from an uncle, chanced upon the Wolkenritter unexpectedly one day, when she was greeted by four strange-looking individuals that knelt down and swore to protect and defend her. Having longed for a family, she eagerly took them in.
The Wolkenritter soon realized that Hayate was different from their previous masters, who had used them to become powerful and had eventually been consumed by their own lust and desire. Instead, Hayate was kind and loving, like a mother to them. Hayate did not realize their magical potential and their primeval duty, but each night, after Vita made sure Hayate was sound asleep, the four of them would leave the house to fulfill their programmed task: to defend their master. The Wolkenritter knew that Hayate suffered from a chronic disease that would eventually lead to her death. They believed that if they could fill the 666 pages of the Tome of the Night Sky, they could heal her. This magic book, from which they stemmed, could only be filled by taking the linker cores of other mages and magical creatures, in other words, the souls that enabled beings to perform magic. Each and every night, the Wolkenritter roamed far and wide, defeating monstrous creatures and skilled mages and storing their magical energy in the Book of Darkness.
In the end, Hayate was healed of her illness. The Wolkenritter eventually came to the realization that the Book of Darkness, when filled, unleashed a horrible monstrosity that could only destroy and consume, not heal. The Book had to be destroyed. Vita and the other Wolkenritter worried that they, being programmed magical constructs of the book, would too be destroyed, but were willing to sacrifice themselves for their only true and loving mistress. Fortunately, the Wolkenritter were not annihilated in the process, and they remained to stay with Hayate.
Vita came to Yuriba with Hayate and several of the other Wolkenritter in the hopes of leaving the busy, congested city life for a more relaxing atmosphere. She takes art lessons at the Rinkei Gakuen and enjoys painting.
