Range Shepherd
The range shepherd is a species of domestic dog used in Underhill to help with herding Red Burr Goats and Omertà Sheep] Underhill. It was bred from the local Artisan Wolf. The range shepherd has a long, wiry coat with a thick, soft undercoat, allowing it to handle winter weather and to safely track stray animals even in deep brush or brambles. Their coloration ranges from a soft gold hue to a deep red-brown, and may be mottled or spotted. The ears of the range shepherd are pointed and perked, while the tails are curled over the back and have a long fringe. The muzzle is longer than that of the Watch Hound, more closely resembling their wolf ancestors. These dogs often are worked in pairs or trios, allowing one animal to stay with the herd while the other rounds up strays.
