Nadia Marchand is a skilled painter who pursues her art purely for the sake of her own enjoyment. She purposely relocated to Yuriba from France in the spring of 2006, and has since then spent most of her time capturing the beauty of the island on canvas.

On Standing Out

Perhaps the most distinguishing feature about Nadia is the fact that if she's outside of her own house, she's dressed to the nines no matter what. Her clothes are fitted, some even tailor-made, and her overall appearance is usually meant to give off an air of casual elegance. Whether or not this rings true for when she's in the privacy of her home is unknown.

Having been born and raised in France, she speaks with a French accent that's most easily noticed in her turning some 'th' sounds into 'z' ones and removing any H that starts off a word. She also has a tendency to use 'oui' and 'non' rather than 'yes' and 'no', and seems to be quite fond of the word 'mais'. That's not to say, however, that her grasp of English is anything but excellent.

Beneath the Surface

While Nadia is generally a friendly person, she is somewhat asocial by nature and tends to shun large gatherings in favor of one-on-one conversations or solitude. Strangers will usually find her to be approachable and polite if somewhat dry, while anyone who is closer to her will see her grow steadily more open with both her thoughts and her sense of humor, which can be downright devilish at times.

She is calm and level-headed in most circumstances, though she can get slightly flustered when embarrassed as she dislikes drawing attention to herself.

Notable Skills

Nadia's skill with a paint brush or a pencil are her most developed ones, and ones that she has been working on perfecting since the age of 5. They are not her only ones, however.

First and foremost, living on her own has given her many chances and much cause to improve her cooking skills, and while she seems to favor dessert dishes over others, she appears to be quite a good all-round cook as well. The part of her upbringing that was high-society France also imbued upon her the art of dancing - mostly of the ballroom variety - which is something that she enjoys and has also turned out to be more than adept at.

It's also rumored that she's a decent flute player and able to sing quite nicely. Both of these are, as of yet, unconfirmed.

Social Circle

Having lived in Yuriba for over two years, Nadia has encountered several people, though only few have become more than passing acquaintances.

Currently, her closest friend would probably be Siofra, whom she started spending time with when the Elf abruptly approached her one evening in The Dragon's Brew. Her more relaxed approach to social situations can most likely be blamed on Siofra, who is the only known person that Nadia will trade good-natured insults with.

Some of her more casual friends would be Sabriel, whom she spends some occasional time helping with art, and Ainara, whom she was romantically involved with for quite a while.

Most recently, she has struck up an aquaintance with Teagan. There have been several mentions of pizza, although the context remains unknown.
