High Priestesses
In the Yuriban tradition, a High Priestess serves as the highest-ranking religious agent of a specific goddess, holding powers related to the goddess' attributes as well as appropriate social status.
Most High Priestesses of the Yuriban faith are considered at an intermediate stage between the Guardians and the Sentries: They hold broad powers related to to the worship and service of their goddess and may typically wield them at any time, but they lack the defensive power of a Sentry or Guardian. It is thus quite possible for a Sentry to serve alongside a High Priestess as the two roles are complements, not duplicates. At present, there is no deity known to be served both by a High Priestess and a Sentry currently active in the village of Yuriba; however, as the majority of the Yuriban High Priestesses remain sequestered within the Underhill community and most Sentries live and work in the so called "material" dimension it is virtually certain that those deities with a Sentry have a High Priestess as well.
A High Priestess may also serve as a Guardian in some cases - namely that of the Lady's chosen Priestess, who is usually also a Guardian. However, historically Guardians have originated in nearly every walk of life so there is no matching correlation that a Guardian is likely an important religious figure.
The selection process for a High Priestess is not known, and may well vary for different deities. It is believed that at least one method involves the presence of a Guardian or at least one other High Priestess. Statements that breisleach has made about her own training suggest that, at least in her case, the process involved selection in childhood.
