Atusaya Rae/Abilities
< Atusaya RaeRachel Anne Anderson's skills are, like those of many Yuribans, a little surprising.
Surprising in how disinteresting and mundane they are, that is.
OOC: Using this knowledge |
I dare you to use these IC. I double dog dare you. The bottom line is, until you see it or are told about it IC, you don't know about it. |

Attributes
- Power: 3/10. Rae can throw a pretty decent punch and has more limb strength than you would expect, largely because Eimi convinced her to go to the gym once in awhile. She can hang in a fistfight with most normal humans with no training but against anyone who is actually a fighter she's probably getting rolled.
- Speed: 1/10 Some cats are indoor cats. Anderson is an indoor human. She tends to run out of breath if she runs too hard and she isn't much of a sprinter. She can run about as much as an average human girl in decent but not great health can. Also to her detriment is that she really can't do much without a sports bra, because she definitely does jiggle.
- Agility: 1/10 Do not expect Anderson to do a barrel roll any time soon, let's put it that way.
- Skill: 1/10 Anderson is an exceptionally skilled painter whose talented fingers can make miracles happen on the page. She is a talented photographer, a pretty good writer and has a knack for aesthetics. She's able to design homes and buildings, and she cooks a mean homemade pizza. Sadly, none of that has to do with fighting.
- Endurance: 3/10 Anderson is a little toughie at heart. She can take a few punches and come back fighting, at least against opponents of her skill level. That said, her skill level is pretty low and anything serious that hits her will probably kill her.
Innate skills
And then a tumbleweed went by.
Trained skills
These are skills Anderson has picked up over time and through training.
- Painting and Drawing: Rae is likely the best visual artist on the island at this point. She spent most of her life practicing how to do art, and accordingly when she puts her brush to the canvas or her nib to the page, breathtaking things happen. Her work is most often displayed at the Yuriba Art Gallery, though much more is stowed away in her home or farmed out to friends to be hung on walls.
- Writing: Anderson's compendium of nerdy talents also extends to her skill with words. She's not a prolific writer, but she's talented, with a knack for description and leanings toward the florid, and she's possessed of perfect grammar that is sure to strike fear into the hearts of typo demons far and wide.
- Ice Hockey: It may shock you, but Anderson is definitely Canadian. She learned to skate as a child, and hockey followed naturally. She hasn't played in quite awhile, but her natural position is defenseman, though she can moonlight as a goalie every now and then - if she can ever find her equipment.
Acquired skills
These are skills Anderson acquired through the events in her life. They can't be trained.
- Pretty Soldier Sailor Gemini: Anderson was endowed with a portion of Eimi's Sailow Senshi powers. They enabled her to become Sailor Gemini, the Senshi of Light and Imagination. Sailor Gemini is much more nimble than the regular garden-variety Rae, and she comes with enhanced strength and stamina as well as the ability to fire her signature attack, a helical double laser dubbed Gemini Twin Star. She's the antithesis to Eimi's Sailor Centauri in that she's about highly precise, targeted power and not unaimable natural force. That said, you'll never see Sailor Gemini because Rae relinquished her henshin pen back to Eimi when the two broke up, and with it, Sailor Gemini's power. There is some question as to whether it is actually returnable, but for all practical purposes, Sailor Gemini no longer exists.
Weaknesses
Like most Yuribans, Anderson has her share of weaknesses. They're as follows.
- Relentlessly Mundane: Rae has no magical abilities she can turn to to help her. She is not a trained fighter. She keeps nominally fit but doesn't train herself to peak condition. She eats pizza and drinks pop and would rather hang out with her cat than run a marathon. The bottom line is that she's almost pathetically baseline and any combatant worth their salt could kill her with a thought.
- Big Dumb Stupid Feisty Moron: The one thing one can say about Anderson is that she's a trooper. When something does challenge her, she'll gut up and face it. When someone insults her or tries to damage what she feels is hers, she'll get her back up, ball her fists and stand her ground. The problem is that she has almost no fighting capacity and tends to put herself in positions where she's swinging a hockey stick at Cthulhu. Uh-oh.
- Inherent Laziness: I'm far too lazy to elucidate on this one.
- Bad Temper: Most of the time Rae is very pleasant. However, when someone insults her or acts foolishly around her, she tends to fume. She's prone to scowling and harsh words, and she is not the least bit shy about loudly calling someone out in public - complete with profanity - when she feels they have done something wrong.
Gear
- Bauer's Frostplane Stave: Well, okay, it's just a regular Bauer brand hockey stick. Rae actually has a couple she used to use to play hockey. The stick is also her weapon of choice, and when she's threatened she will generally fall back on the stick to get her out of trouble. And by that I mean she'll go all Marty McSorley and start slashing and whacking at people until they go away. It hurts a lot more than you might expect.
- Garb of the Unconquered Captain: Actually it's just a Detroit Red Wings hockey jersey. In fact it's her number 19 Steve Yzerman jersey. When she needs a good psyching up, Anderson tends to put on the jersey and channel how the legendary Red Wings captain led the team to a Stanley Cup on a wounded knee that one year. It doesn't especially increase her defense, evasion or really anything, but it does grant +2 to awesome and +19 to Filthy Dekes. A rarely seen variant is her number 5 Nicklas Lidstrom jersey.
Combat Techniques
- Painted Dragon Fist: Rae throws a basic punch at her enemy for about the kind of damage you'd expect a basic punch to do.
- Crushing Raptor Shin Strike: Rae throws a basic kick at her enemy. It is not even a karate kick. She just swings her leg back and kicks them at about shin level because she really can't get her leg up very high.
- Path of the Marty McSorley: Rae grabs her hockey stick, reels back and whacks her unfortunate foe hard enough to break things. Things that make them go.
- Diamond Mist Demon Bull Tsunami Charge: It sounds awesome, but it's basically just Rae shoulder-tackling someone. It probably doesn't even knock them down unless they're pretty light. She might even punch them while she's down there.
- Dodger, Bite!: Rae directs Dodger, her pet Rottweiler, to take a chunk out of anyone who threatens her. Probably the only move in her arsenal that's genuinely dangerous unless she's walking the Path of the Marty McSorley that day.
Finishers
- Gemini Twin Star: Rae henshins into Sailor Gemini and gathers a locus of energy at her index and middle fingertip. She spins elaborately and then levels her hand, shouting "Gemini Twin Star ignite!" and releasing the energy in two thin beams. The energy beams twist together into a helix and smash into a target at lightning speed for massive damage. There's only one problem: The fact that Sailor Gemini either doesn't exist anymore or can no longer be accessed, which means Rae has no cool laser finisher. Oh noes!
- Wounded Crane Soul Crush Technique - Shatter Heart Fist: Rae falls down on the ground and cries until her opponent commits suicide. NOTE: This only works on Eimi.
