Tunnels

A vast network of (mostly) natural underground tunnels link major parts of the village to one another. They serve not only as ways to get around the island, but also as places of safety. The most visible known entrance is blockaded, has stored medical supplies, food, fuel, clothes, and other things can help in emergencies or natural disasters. Most of the entrances to the underground areas are via trap or hidden doors in major local businesses or buildings. The tunnels form an underground network that can be used in times of emergency and provide sanctuary, although it is worth noting that it is highly likely they were originally formed by volcanic activity, and may not be the preferred area to shelter in case of a recurrence of such. In addition to their uses for travel and storage, mushrooms grow in abundance in the damp underground tunnels, and at least one hot spring with safe bathing temperatures is known to be contained amid the meandering corridors.
