Tianshiniichuan

Translated literally, Tianshiniichuan is the "Spring of Drowned Angel". Those who submerge themselves within its waters will, upon being splashed with cold water, acquire wings and often a glowing aura.

Folklore

There are several conflicting local legends involving the Tianshiniichuan spring. One popular version is a tragic love story that details how an immortal angel once deliberately drowned herself in the spring and died so as to grant her own form and abilities to her mortal lover. While this tale would seem at odds with the knowledge that the springs only change one's physical form, it is nevertheless quite popular because of its romantic and moving nature.

The less exciting alternative lies in a few cryptic comments made by followers of the local faith, which indicates that Tianshiniichuan is likely associated with the goddess Amanohara, who governs the skies, weather, and particularily the element of air. This would hint at a possible linkage with the Kongqinyanniichuan spring as well, which is sacred to the same deity.

More likely, however, is that the name is simply a corruption of Tianenyanniichuan (Spring of Drowned Swan-girl), and the resulting mythology evolved afterwards out of romantic associations. The existence of the Lucent Swan further supports this.

Current Events

The previously known route to the Tianshiniichuan disappeared without trace some time ago, and only recently has a new route to it been rediscovered. How long this one may last is unknown.
