The Burnt Forest
The Burnt Forest is the section of the eastern forests contained within the confines of the Rampart River to the west and south, Omolara Valley to the north, and the ocean to the east.
Features
Once a lush forest, during the events of the Eruption of 2012, the forest was subjected to intense levels of heat and lava, resulting in a devastating forest fire, leaving only remains of the largest trees. Stretching from the borders of the Rampart River and out to the ocean, the burnt forest is now a great charred plain of gently rolling hills. Very few notable features stand out, mainly a large rock at the northern edge of Yuriba Lake and two mysterious shimmers that seem like 'heat mirage'. Despite the destruction, already life has begun a rapid reclamation of the area, grasses well established, trees starting to grow. The new openness of the area has created an ideal habitat for flowers and brush, many examples of Yuriban flowers taking advantage of the new space and nutrients provided by the burnt forest.
