Spring Hunters

Spring hunters are residents of Yuriba, usually immigrants, that spend part or all of their time hunting for the various Jusenkyou Springs around the island. Motivation varies with the individual: some desire to receive a specific Blessing, others to collect vials of every known water, other times it's done simply for the thrill of having discovered something that only few know of.

The skill of a particular spring hunter can be judged on a variety of merits. Probably the most common grounds is based upon number of springs found – the more, the better. Others pride themselves on successfully negotiating the most difficult puzzles, disdaining the worth of even counting an easily encountered spring such as the Tunyanniichuan. A rare but particularly powerful indication of skill is often being known as the first to surpass a puzzle, particularly one that has been present for some time.

In OOC terms, sharing exact directions to a spring is considered unfair to the other players, who might not get the same help. You are welcome to offer general hints, just not directions and exact commands. (Historically, the channel +extras was intended specifically to give hints and general help with Jusenkyou puzzles; nowadays, such questions would generally be best directed to +Yuriba.)

Given the quiet and peaceful nature of the island, most residents eventually do take up spring hunting as a hobby at some point, even if only as a passing fancy. As a result, there is often something of an underground 'black market' in Jusenkyou Waters, passed between collectors. While there are sometimes attempts to trade information on where to find springs with others, it appears that the deities are often sensitive to this. Often, after a period where information about a particular spring seems to have been shared too openly or often, its location and puzzle are found to have been shifted by the goddess associated with it.
