Sana de Landis, previously known as Sana Varros or Sana Maarten, is a woman who lived in Yuriba from 2004 to 2005.
Character
In a lot of ways, Sana was your archetypal early Yuriban visitor girl who didn't quite grasp the island. During her time in the village she came across as friendly and amicable, though also something of a "cute nerd girl" by her own description. A free spirit at heart, she amused herself by flirting with those around her and could occasionally be found making out with those she fancied in hot tubs. Though she fancied herself something of a playful snarker, her jibes weren't especially original and she came across as a semi-decent tease with a relatively transparent interest in making out. Balancing out her playful side was her passion for computerized entertainment. She meticulously maintained a generator to run her PC on, and she spent a lot of her downtime playing shooter and strategy games, often roping in friends for a spirited game of Starcraft. She's extremely competitive but also extremely cheap and won't hesitate to resort to cheesy moves to get ahead, whether it's using her charms and connections to find a plum job in life or loading up on Zerglings and Zerg rushing someone into oblivion in Starcraft.
Outwardly she seemed to have little interest in fashion, though she did play up her odd pigmentation: She tended to streak her hair with purple to draw out her eyes and wear dresses in pastel colours, figuring she'd never find anything to match teal hair and purple eyes and thus there's no point in trying anything but colourful.
These days Sana has changed somewhat from her time in Yuriba. She typically dyes her hair black now and wears it in a ponytail, and she's parlayed her interest in gaming into a career as a freelance web designer.
Relationships
Sana was closest to Elora during her time on the island. The two lived together for a short period, bonding over a shared interest in the trappings of nerdery. Though their relationship didn't last overly long, it's been immortalized by a leaked tape of the two frolicking on Elora's porch. She was at one point flirting with Coral but put her off by making out in a hot tub with someone else. Beyond that her relationships were largely superficial.
Since departing Yuriba in 2005, she married a man by the surname of De Landis, though she's cheating on him with another woman, largely because he's proven to be frustratingly dense. She also has twin two-year-old baby girls by the names of Delia and Danica, whom she dotes on heavily.
Her broader family relationships are a disaster. She's the daughter of a Pennsylvania Dutch fella named Kristian Maarten and a woman from New Mexico named Maria Varros. The two had a turbulent marriage and finally split up when Sana was a teenager. A messy court case followed, with Sana fought over strenuously between the two. Eventually she fled to Yuriba to get away from it all and still resents her parents to this day. She waffled over which surname to use, at one point hyphenating herself to Sana Varros-Maarten, but eventually just took the surname de Landis when she got married as a symbolic means of severing her parental ties forever.
