Moon Thrushes

Moon Thrushes are a form of songbird found primarily on the slopes of Engetsu-san and the surrounding foothills. An unassuming-looking bird, Moon Thrushes have dark greyish-brown plumage, with silver-white on their bellies and the undersides of their wings. They are quite popular with the natives, as their call resembles the sound of an expertly played wood flute.

Local legends claim that the Moon Thrushes were originally handmaidens of the goddess Engetsu, and that when she fell to the earth, they were transformed into birds so they could remain at her side and continue to serve her.
