Matsuri 2009
OOC NOTE: All times are PST, which is the same as MUSH time as of this writing. Any questions or comments should be directed to Abryn in-game, either in @mail or pages
The Summer Matsuri comes late this year, and events will be over the last week in August. They are still being planned individually, and if anyone would like to attempt to host a mini-event, supply ideas for contests, prizes, or games, please contact us!
Confirmed Events
From the 23rd to the 30th one will be able to pick up two scavenger hunt lists to be completed at one's own pace throughout the duration of the festival. Later in the week, there will be a short race-hunt scheduled, more than likely in the early afternoon on one of the weekend days.
- The lists for Easy and Hard are both out, and located at the Village Center in the list dispenser! These will be due in the next week or so, to allow for people to spend the weekend to complete them.
- On each of the the three days of the Matsuri itself, Abryn will open up another short list for more of a race-style scavender competition!
- There will be custom prizes to be collected afterwords for the first person to hand in any one of those lists!
Throughout the week-long event, Rinkei Gakuen will be holding a bake-sale. All sorts of delicious desserts will be available for tasting, and any funds raised will go to support the operation of the school. Special thanks to the first year home economics class for helping create such wonderful tastey treats! The bake sale booth will be set up just in front of the school itself, on Sand Lily Road. Two blocks east and one block south from the village center. (Due to OOC reasons, Eimi is unable to deal with the bake sale for the moment. It has been put off until a later date, possibly a few weeks, or possibly to return near halloween!)
On the evening of either Friday the 28th, and on the final day of the the 30th, there will be an informal and semi-traditional little fireworks viewing. These will be hosted on Maboroshi, over at the Wading Pools area for safety, and well atmosphere. Singles, couples and families are encouraged to come, though its nothing fancy. Just some sparklers, maybe some beverages and an excuse to hang out in the low light of a summer evening, feel free to bring more small fireworks, though don't let it be anything too loud or unsafe near children. One one of those nights some live music, or karaoke may be available for the entertainment of one and all! More details to come, when firmer dates and times come available.
At noon on the 29th, the first of the bonus matsuri lists will be turned on for an hour! The first person to complete it gets a special prize!
In the early afternoon of the 29th, Toshiba Market will be hosting a dance recital. It'll start at 1pm, and could last an hour or more up on Sea Lily Circle.
At 3pm on the 29th, Rylia will be holding a game of Werewolf in front of her cabin in the Emberglow Woods on Akibimi-san. Werewolf is a social game in which players take on the roles of villagers in a small village beset by werewolves. A very small number of players will themselves be these werewolves; the villagers' goal is to discover all the werewolves, while the werewolves' goal is to eat villagers until their numbers are equal. The game takes about half an hour to an hour to play, depending on the number of players. Rules will be available on the day of the event, so don't be shy! Game will be primarily IC, but OOC methods will be used to make bookkeeping easier.
At 4pm on the 29th, the second of the bonus lists will be turned on for an hour! Again, there will be a special prize awarded to the first one to complete the lists.
On the evening of the 29th, the ladies of Caislean Dubhcoille will be hosting the Summer dance. The dance is a costume event with a medieval theme; guests may choose to dress in a historic or fantasy medieval fashion, although you are asked to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Copious amounts of iron, steel, and other derivative alloys are not allowed. If you require a great amount of metal in your costume, silver, bronze, copper or other non-iron metals are acceptable substitutes. Please keep in mind that it is very difficult to dance in full plate armor, however.
- Weapons are allowed as accessories to the costume, but should remain sheathed and peace-tied, or strapped to the back regardless of the materiel from which they are fashioned.
- Please keep costumes PG-13 at the most.
Guests will be asked to present themselves to the herald before proceeding into either the dining room or ballroom, that their presence may be announced. The doors will open on this event at 6 PM PST. Food and drink will be provided in the dining hall. A costume contest with the ladies of the house as the panel of judges will take place; please plan to arrive before 9 PM PST if you wish your costume to be considered for judging. All guests will be treated with courtesy in accordance with the laws of hospitality, but you must appear in costume that fits the theme in order to be allowed entry to the event.
To reach Caislean Dubhcoille, simply follow the road North from the Village Center to the foothills at Northern Spruce Lane, then turn West and follow Maple Circle Southwest. The entrance is to the North from there.
