Lovebirds
Lovebirds are a form of small night heron dwelling mostly along the coasts and around the inland waters of Yuriba, making their nests high in coastal trees and among Yuriban Mangroves. They are a frequent sight on Maboroshi. They are instantly recognizable by their stocky bodies and medium-length necks, which taper into slender heads with long black bills. Their plumage is a very pale shade of pink, so pale as to be nearly white, with a black head crown that flows down to the back, shoulders, and rump, and their legs are long and black.
Lovebirds are nocturnal and typically move among tall grass, reeds, and shallow water with a slow, elegant stride. They take their name from their habit of always traveling in tandem with their mate. When not in flight a pair of Lovebirds will stand shoulder to shoulder and walk in perfect tandem, often resting their necks against each other in an affectionate manner. Mates dwell in the same nest and share food equally. When together Lovebirds are silent, but when separated from their lovers they will emit a low, mournful sort of cry, each calling to and guiding the other until they are together again.
Lovebirds are somewhat skittish around humans and tend to shy away from them.
