Laura Kinney (codenamed X-23) is a stranger in a strange land.

History

On September 14th, 2017 the Emergent Star, a yacht departing Seoul and bound for Hong Kong was destroyed at sea. Remnants of the vessel washed ashore on Yuriba, including Laura Kinney who was presumed to be a passenger. Laura laid amid the wreckage until the late hours of the evening of the 14th until she was found by Jubilee. Laura was disoriented and fearful on awakening and indicated that she may have been pursued and that her ship was possibly attacked. However, Laura did not confide exact details of her arrival to Yuriba. She was recovered by Jubilee and moved to a secure shelter for the night, but it was evidently clear that Laura had experienced severe emotional trauma recently, and would need time before fully explaining the circumstances of her arrival.

Beyond the factual experiences of her arrival to Yuriba, Jubilee was able to piece together that while she knows a Laura Kinney, this is not the same person. From differences in appearance and attitude, to an apparently wildly divergent historical experience. To the best of Jubilee's understanding, wherever Laura comes from Jubilee is long dead and a cybernetically-enhanced group known as the Reavers was hunting her.

Inherent Abilities

Cellular Regeneration: Laura is a female clone created from the genetic material of James Howlett, against his will. Consequently, her mutant powers are similar to her father's. Laura's primary mutant ability is an accelerated healing factor that allows her to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissues with far greater speed, efficiency, and finality than either an ordinary human or even her father. Injuries such as gunshot wounds, cuts, and punctures completely heal within a matter of seconds.

The effects of Laura's accelerated healing powers extend to her body's immune system, rendering her immune to disease and infection. She is also immune to most drugs and toxins, although she can be affected by chemical toxins with sufficient dosage. As her cells rapidly regenerate, Laura does not grow tired or exhausted from prolonged physical activity, though she still requires sleep in order to maintain proper psychological balance. Due to her cellular regeneration, Laura stopped physically aging after reaching adulthood, making the determination of her actual age difficult.

Adamantium Claws: As a child, Laura was forcibly implanted with a pair of retractable eight inch long claws sheathed within her forearms. She releases the claws through the tissue of her knuckles, leaving small wounds which are healed by her regeneration. Laura also possesses a single retractable, seven inch long claw housed within each foot that extends between her second and third toes. These claws are naturally made of bone and were forcefully extracted, sharpened, coated with an extraordinarily durable metal called adamantium, and reinserted into her body. Since the claws are laced and plated with adamantium, they are virtually unbreakable and are capable of cutting through almost any substance with little to no resistance. However, since these claws are anchored to muscle and bone, there is a limitation to how much leverage Laura can apply before she causes harm to herself.

Keen Senses: Laura possesses superhuman auditory, olfactory, and visual senses. She is able to hear sounds both below and above human hearing range with remarkable clarity. Additionally, Laura is able to see in extremely low light conditions without aid. Lastly, Laura's sense of smell is sensitive enough to allow her to track creatures and distinguish personal scents at a distance.

Trained Abilities

Hand-to-Hand Combat: On the run from a young age, Laura was never formally trained in hand-to-hand combat. Instead, she learned to fight with instinctual and animalistic ferocity. Even as an adult, Laura picked up what she needed to know as she went along, with her regeneration and adamantium claws making up for her lack of proper combat education.
