Kaelyn is young teenage girl, and new arrival to Yuriba.

History

Born Kaelyn Desma Gerahan, she is the youngest child of Victor Gerahan, an infamous warlord who founded the mighty (albeit uncreatively-named) Gerahan Empire. Born long after the empire's foundation, she was raised in the lap of luxury, constantly tended to by servants who feared her father's wrath. Being a girl, she was generally ignored by her father, who instead focused his attention on Kaelyn's older brother, the heir to the empire. Thus, Kaelyn was primarily raised by her servants and tutors.

One fateful day, whispers of a rebellion grew within the capital city. Her surrogate parents all urged her to flee, since the rebels were no doubt bent on exterminating not only the Emperor, but anyone who might succeed him. Heartbroken by the revelation that her father was a tyrannical monster, yet fearing for her life, she agreed to flee with a handful of her closest friends. Narrowly escaping capture several times, Kaelyn ultimately decided it would be best to travel on her own, ensuring her friends would be safe. She stowed away aboard a small ship, not knowing it was en route to one of the safest and most distant islands in the world: Yuriba.

Personality & Hobbies

Due to her recent hardships, Kaelyn has been generally very timid and cautious. However, once she decides that a new acquaintance is friendly, she becomes her old self almost immediately. In general, she is quite energetic and good-natured, and has an extremely inquisitive mind. She is constantly trying to learn more about the world around her, making her an avid reader and enthusiastic explorer. Though she usually denies it, Kaelyn is a talented musician, able to play the harp, lute, and piccolo with enough proficiency to impress even artists as skilled as elves.

She is extremely short for her age - a fact she is very sensitive about, and will become rather depressed when it is pointed out. She is also very easy to embarrass, and has a tendency to blush and stammer a lot when this happens.

Romantic Involvement

Earlier in life, it was determined that once she became of age, she would be married off to the son of another noble. However, she seems to have escaped that fate. Prior to her arrival on Yuriba, she was completely unaware that girls could be involved with each other romantically. However, now that she has been introduced to that concept, she seems receptive to it, becoming involved with the first person she met in the village.

Friends & Acquaintances

Isilme: A dark elf, seemingly around her age (by elf standards), and the first person Kaelyn met after arriving in Yuriba. Refusing to believe the stories she used to hear about dark elves in general, she opened up to Isilme almost right away. They quickly became good friends, and are now romantically involved.

Xala: A longtime resident of Yuriba, who, as Kaelyn discovered, once belonged to the rebel group that overthrew her father's empire. Despite initial fears, Kaelyn has come to trust Xala, and looks to her as a motherly figure.
