Halloween 2014 Event Details
OOC NOTE: Consider this page as a flier that's being circulated around Yuriba.
Note that all times are PST, as PST is the same as MUSH time.
It's here! It's time! Halloween! October 31st has the great luck of falling on a Friday this year and as such Halloween events will be held on that date, and as always are being organized by Shay
The traditional party in the Sombreuil Community Center the accompanying Costume Contest and optional Trick-or-Treat event are all making a return this year. The additional contests that were given a trial last year didn't see much participation and as such are not being run again.

Annual Yuriban Costume Contest
Categories for this year
- Traditional - This category returns from past Halloween events. Put together a costume that best represents Halloween.
- Cutest - Another long-standing tradition, wear something cute to be the winner here.
- Fancy Dress - Dig out the fanciest, frilliest most fancy clothing you own. This one's just an excuse to look elaborately pretty!
- Funniest - A perennial favorite. Tap into Yuriba's unique sense of humor. (judged by popular vote)
- Best Overall - Winners of other categories will also be eligible for this prize, but it usually ends up going to someone different. (judged by popular vote)
Eligibility and Prizes
Eligibility for all prizes and categories of the contest require attendance to the main event.
Stationed at the event will be a contest photo-booth. To enter the contest one must enter the booth in-costume and select an appropriate category. Entry into the four specific categories will automatically be entered into the Best Overall category as well. Those not aiming for one of the four more specific categories should simply select the Overall category. Entries will be closed at 10:00 PM, so be sure to arrive promptly!
There are no alt restrictions on contest entries.
The contest's winners and prizes will be announced during the main event.
Judging information
The funniest and best overall categories will be decided by a popular vote amongst Yuriba's denizens. Voting will be by ballot cast into the voting box in the Main Ballroom. Voting will open starting at 10 PM, and will close at midnight.
Trick-or-Treating will take the same format that it does most years, though some of the locations have changed.
As soon as the 25th, you will be able to get a special trick-or-treat bag from the vendor that will be located in the village square, and you may then use it to go around collecting candy and other treats from various predesignated spots. Once you have visited every locale, you will receive a special certificate for your completion of this year's Trick-or-Treating that will be uniquely designed for this year. Trick-or-Treating will be able to be completed until midnight on the 31st of October.
Note that Trick-or-Treating is not quite like a scavenger hunt; locations will be described somewhat specifically instead of merely vaguely hinted at, and must then simply be found. This is not likely to be terribly difficult in most cases, so one should have ample time to enjoy one's Trick-or-Treating even before the main event begins.
Unlike some previous years, completing the Trick-or-Treat event is not necessary for entry to the party.
