Halloween 2013 Event Details
OOC NOTE: Consider this page as a flyer that's being circulated around Yuriba.
Note that all times are PST, as PST is the same as MUSH time.
It's here! It's time! Halloween! I've read the responses from those of you kind enough to reply to my poll and have begun planning this year's festivities. Having taken everyone's preference into consideration the main events will be taking place on Sunday the 27th and as always are being organized by Shay
The traditional party in the Sombreuil Community Center the accompanying Costume Contest and optional Trick-or-Treat event are all making a return this year. In addition however three new contests will be getting a trial run, and if they do well they'll make a return in future years. Those events are: Pumpkin Carving, Cookie Decorating, and a Business Decorating contest.

Judging information
The funniest and best overall categories will be decided by a popular vote amongst Yuriba's denizens. Voting will be by ballot cast into the voting box in the Main Ballroom. Voting will open starting at 10 PM, and will close at midnight.
Judging for the other categories will be conducted by the event organizer.
Pumpkin Carving Contest
Uncarved pumpkins will be distributed via a vending machine in the Village Center as early as the 13th. Contestants must then write a suitable carved description for their pumpkin. Finished pumpkins may be left in Sombreuil Community Center's Private Ballroom at any time prior to the Halloween event. Judging will take place the night of the event. One entry per player please.
Cookie Decorating Contest
Undecorated cookies will be available from the same vending machine as uncarved pumpkins. Similar to pumpkins the cookies must be given a suitable decorated descriptions. Completed cookies can be left in the Community Center's Buffet area. One entry per player please.
Business Decorating Contest
Any gridded business is eligible for this contest. To compete each business must display a Halloween appropriate description for at least one of its publicly available rooms. Those business owners who wish to enter please @mail Shay once your business is appropriately decorated.
Trick-or-Treating
Trick-or-Treating will take the same format that it does most years, though some of the locations have changed.
As soon as the 25th, you will be able to get a special trick-or-treat bag from the vendor that will be located in the village square, and you may then use it to go around collecting candy and other treats from various predesignated spots. Once you have visited every locale, you will receive a special certificate for your completion of this year's Trick-or-Treating that will be uniquely designed for this year. Trick-or-Treating will be able to be completed until midnight on the 31st of October.
Note that Trick-or-Treating is not quite like a scavenger hunt; locations will be described somewhat specifically instead of merely vaguely hinted at, and must then simply be found. This is not likely to be terribly difficult in most cases, so one should have ample time to enjoy one's Trick-or-Treating even before the main event begins.
Unlike some previous years, completing the Trick-or-Treat event is not necessary for entry to the party.
