Grandmother Gildedside

The constellation of Grandmother Gildedside is viewed as a the view of a fish from above. Legend holds that the flashy fishes were once dark scaled and lived in the sky rather than the waters of the island, swimming virtually invisibly through the sky. Upon Engetsu’s leaving the sky and Tenteisei’s revealing of herself, the fishes found themselves enamored of the sparkling of the stars, which were once shimmering in golds and silvers, swimming happily through them and gathering the sparkle upon their scales. So many fish were moving through the sky, however, the flashing of their scales confusing observers, making it unclear which lights were the sparkle of the stars, or the sparkles of the fish, that Tenteisei grew alarmed. Speaking to the eldest and largest of the fishes, she asked for the fish to stop their quick swimming. Knowing that to ask her children to slow would be asking them to go against their natures, Grandmother Gildedside asked if it would be possible for Tenteisei to help the fish get to the ocean where they would have the space to swim freely and as quickly as they wished.

Speaking with Issui, Tenteisei was able to gain the other goddesses eager assistance, Issui causing the waters around the island to grow still as ice, the surface reflecting the stars. The sparkle of the stars below drew Grandmother Glidedside’s children to finally look below, they having never looked far beyond their sky home. Seeing the reflection of the stars on the smooth surface, and the sparkle of the waters moving in the distance, the fishes eagerly jumped from the sky to the waters below. Thankful for the fish so willingly leaving the sky, Tenteisei allowed the golden sparkle of her stars to forever shine upon the fish as long as they were within her sight, and happily allowed the Grandmother fish to stay within the stars.
