Background

Claire Marshall has been on and off the island for over a year. She currently resides at Sherlock's castle with her sisters. Back in San Diego, she's an athletic trainer at the same university where she earned a degree in Kinesiology. She's known to be bright, outgoing, at times spastic, talkative, loud, and endlessly friendly. This can end up being an intense experience for more introverted types. She does have a quiet and deeply sensitive side to her, but it takes a great deal of digging to reach it.

Her travel to and from the island happens mostly at random, falling asleep in one place and waking up in the other. On certain occasions, however, events or people have drawn her to one location or the other almost immediately.

Appearance

Claire stands taller than most, with long, slender limbs and a bony frame. Add some freckles, and you'd be forgiven for thinking she's part giraffe. She has a feathered, voluminous cascade of copper hair atop her head, dancing like a flame with her hyperactive movements. One lock in particular has been tightly braided, adorned with beads and a small feather, and tucked behind her ear to hang down like an earring. She has the look of a free spirit about her, usually seen with some big wayfarers over her eyes, a soft, loose hoodie on her torso, some plaid pajama pants on her legs, and some heel-snapping flipflops on her feet. Her eyes are a misty sea green in color, and while they have the capacity to bore straight into the soul, they're normally soft and bright, and she'll likely have some crow's feet before long with how often she smiles. An unremarkable nose and thin, pale pink lips round out her face. Her skin is naturally quite pale, but bears the light kiss of the sun. One of her arms is tattooed from wrist to shoulder with a kinetic mix of crashing waves, wispy smoke, dancing flames, and twirling ivy. Her joints are bony and nimble, and while she normally moves with an erratic attention deficit, she's capable of brief flashes of grace.

Abilities

Claire has discovered some mild magical ability within herself in her time on the island. In addition to some natural talent for prestidigitation, she has the ability to create sparks by snapping her fingers, and she is able to radiate heat from her palms and fingertips, enough to heat up a cup of coffee or keep a friend warm, but never enough to harm anyone. Recently, she's developed a theory that these abilities burn the calories she consumes, which explains her ability to wolf down tons of food without gaining an ounce, and why she can't use these abilities when she's hungry.

Relationships

Claire remains a rolling stone, as it were, free and open to explore friendships and acquaintances, but beyond her sister Gwendolyn, she does not have any serious relationships on the island. She describes monogamy as, "Rare, but beautiful. Like a unicorn," and while a part of her would love to commit to an exclusive partner, she hasn't found that right woman to settle down with.
