Category:Divine
Divine magic is a a school of wholly faith-based magic that stems from religion, drawing upon a patron deity's or spirit's powers during prayer. Practitioners of this style are typically clergy of a church, or of some religious sect, and tend to be referred to as "priests" or "clerics".
Local use
Among Yuriban natives, use of divine magic is limited to those followed Yuriban Animism, primarily priestesses. It is practiced through prayer or spoke invokation, some traditional and formal, many others being based on the moment's instincts of the priestess as to what was appropriate. Divine 'spells' tend to be fairly small, short term effects, often with little or no visual display. It is most often used in day to day life to bless individuals or endeavors and to provide comfort and reassurance when priestesses minister to the faithful.
Comparisons to other schools
Divine magic is seemingly linked to the druidic schools of magic, especially on Yuriba. Like druidic magicians, priests and clerics draw their power from the worship of a deity or spirits. In many worlds, divine magic, however, places larger emphasis on the learning of lessons passed down from that deity. Evidence suggests that the more organic traditions of Yuriba do not support such a structured approach to divine channeling or magic.
