Breisleach/Sionnach

Summoned by breisleach in 2006, Sionnach is the kitsune's familiar and plant spirit. While she would naturally exist in an energy form, being bound as a familiar allowed her to create a sort of body for herself out of woven rose vines and energy. Strictly speaking, she doesn't need to 'eat' anything, but she loves to soak up warm sunlight and light rain. She also enjoys being petted, although doing so is rather tricky, since the rose brambles that make up her form are, indeed, quite properly covered in wicked thorns. Unable to make true sounds, she communicates telepathically, across a wide wavelength; she's been able to talk to other spirits and animals before, as well as humanoids. Rather than laughing, the familiar tends to send a sensation that feels like champagne bubbles popping in the 'listener''s head when she's amused.

Sionnach doesn't necessarily grasp a lot of normal morality as a plant spirit; she has at best a liberal grasp of the concept of 'secrets', as well as 'personal property', and has been known to run off with other people's things. This is particularly true of books, as she's fascinated by them, and the older or stranger the better. Somewhere out there is a vast cache of old tomes she's stolen out of abandoned homes and when readers turned their backs. She also doesn't really grasp the concept of names, and it can take a great deal of effort to coax someone's usual name out of her, rather than her assigned nomenclature, if it's even possible. Among these nicknames are Fox (breisleach), Dragon (Atara), Little Sister (Merin), Big Sister (Yuriko), Wolf (Cassidy), One White Eye (Seishi), Other One White Eye (Hokuto), Firebird (Rho), New Wings (Lyra), Dark Water (Ella), Cinnamon Rabbit (Nisa), Seafoam (Abryn), Yearling (Five), and Explosions (Jubilee). In short, unless you've known her for a long time, figuring out who she's talking about can be a bit... confusing.
